House District 43 covers a stretch of North and Northeast Portland, from the Columbia Corridor down to the Rose Quarter and Lloyd District. Not sure if you're in it? Type your address into the state's district lookup and find the line that says "State Representative." If the district number is 43, that's us.
Becoming a PCP also takes being registered as a Democrat. You can check your registration with your name and date of birth.
A Precinct Committee Person is the most local role in the Democratic Party: the party's grassroots, representing your neighbors to the party and the party to your neighbors. Together, PCPs make up the county Central Committee, which is the highest party authority on county party matters.
To be one, you need exactly two things: you live in Multnomah County, and you're registered as a Democrat at that address. That's it. No political experience, no connections, no money.
There are two ways in. You can be appointed: send in an application by the 1st of the month, and the Central Committee votes on it at that month's meeting. Or you can be elected in the May primary. Right now, appointment is the open door.
