How I got here

Five years ago my husband and I moved to Portland from Florida because we wanted to live somewhere sustainable. We settled in the Vernon neighborhood, joined our neighborhood association, and started showing up.

That's where I learned about the CEI Hub: six miles of fuel tanks along the Willamette, holding 90 percent of Oregon's liquid fuel, sitting on soil that turns to liquid in an earthquake. Right in the middle of the city. Nobody from the city had told us. It took volunteers to do that.

I felt betrayed. I had moved here to put down roots, and I'd moved next to a ticking clock. So instead of leaving, I got involved. I joined the CEI Hub Task Force. I started presenting at neighborhood associations. I testified at City Council. I found out that showing up, over and over, actually moves things.

In July 2026 I was elected District Leader for House District 43. It's a volunteer job, and it comes down to one thing: making sure the people in this district who want to help have something real to do.
